CFL cargo Deutschland switches to green electricity in 2020

Flensburg, 19. March 2020 – As of this year, CFL cargo Deutschland GmbH, subsidiary of the CFL cargo Group, introduced 100 percent renewable, clean electricity for all of its trains, thus enabling the environmentally friendly operation of up to 3,250 block trains that circulate in Germany each year.

By purchasing certified green electricity, supplied by Stadtwerke Tübingen GmbH, rail transport becomes even more sustainable. This measure is therefore another commitment towards saving around 19,000 tons of CO2 (compared to the average German electricity mix).

CFL cargo Deutschland GmbH, located in Flensburg near the German-Danish border, is an important traction provider on the German and Central European axis. The shift to exclusively green electricity generated by wind and hydro assets is an important investment in sustainable logistics in Europe.

In recent years, the CFL cargo Group has become determined to be a driving force for sustainable development and social responsibility, supporting initiatives such as Noah's Train, a project of the Rail Freight Forward Alliance.
